The bamboo is carbonized, a heat treatment that deepens its natural color all the way through, and it comes on long 6-foot click planks with a smooth surface.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does carbonized mean? Carbonizing heats the bamboo fibers under pressure, which caramelizes their natural sugars and turns them brown. The color goes through the fiber rather than sitting on the surface like a stain.

Is strand bamboo harder than oak? Yes. Strand-woven bamboo is compressed under high pressure, and Tesoro rates it at over 3,000 on the Janka scale. Red oak is about 1,290.

How does it install? The planks have a click-lock profile, so they snap together and float over the subfloor without glue or nails. Follow Tesoro Woods' installation guidelines for subfloor flatness and moisture testing.

Can it be refinished? Yes.
