Made in the USA, Mohawk’s UltraWood is a unique combination of a slim real wood veneer mounted atop High Density Fiberboard (HDF). You’ll get the authentic, classic grain patterns you can only get from natural wood - but now with added durability and reliability from the best of Mohawk’s innovative technologies.
Featuring complete waterproof protection from surface to subloor, UltraWood is also made to resist scratches, wear and dents, making it the ultimate performance hardwood. It uses Mohawk's Uniclic glueless locking joint, the industry’s leading glueless locking system, which snaps together for fast and easy installation. The innovative technology maintains constant tension between planks for tight joints that trap water on the surface, protecting your floor and subfloor.
Mohawk’s ultimate performance hardwood, UltraWood, has been chosen as one of Green Builder’s Sustainable Products of the Year. Formerly known as the Hot 50, Green Builder Media recognizes products that make the home a better place to be.
The Sustainable Products of the Year selections represent today’s most innovative products that make homes more efficient, resilient, intelligent, healthy and safe. UltraWood has proven to be the perfect product for this selection with its various sustainable attributes.
“Mohawk is honored to have received yet another notable recognition from Green Builder Media,” said Seth Arnold, vice president of marketing, hard surface. “UltraWood encompasses everything that they believe in and more, providing the utmost of quality for consumers and their homes. We are so excited and grateful to be featured as a Product of the Year for 2022.”
Ultimate performance flooring is not just about durability and cleanability. It is also about maximizing the enjoyment of natural hardwood while minimizing the impact on the environment. Mohawk’s UltraWood is naturally sustainable, provides 10x more flooring than natural hardwood and uses 90 percent recycled wood.
UltraWood removes carbon from the air and stores it in a beautiful long-lasting floor. “As trees grow, they sequester carbon,” continued Arnold. “When the tree is turned into UltraWood, the carbon stays locked away in the finished materials.”
Additionally, the UltraWood manufacturing process delivers 10x more natural hardwood per log when compared to traditional hardwood flooring production. For instance, in a 2,500-square-foot home, it only takes 2.5 logs to floor the entire space with UltraWood compared to 25 logs to floor the entire space with traditional wood.
With Mohawk’s recycling platform opening new opportunities to create and support an emerging circular flooring economy, 90 percent of the wood used to create the impact resistant boards of UltraWood is recycled from post-industrial wood.
Not only durable and sustainable, UltraWood also includes some of Mohawk’s best-known technologies such as Everlast, WetProtect and EasyClean.
UltraWood is domestically produced at the company’s Danville facility in Virginia, reducing the carbon footprint and contributing to the local community. UltraWood is also SCS FloorScore certified. The FloorScore Indoor Air Quality Certification ensures that a flooring has been independently certified by SCS to comply with the volatile organic compound emissions criteria of the California Section 01250 Program. Any product that has met these stringent standards is a product that will contribute to good indoor air quality.
