Marmoleum Decibel Acoustic Commercial Linoleum Sheet Flooring by Forbo

Marmoleum Decibel is Forbo's acoustic linoleum sheet: a 2.5 mm Marmoleum wear layer laminated to a 1 mm polyolefin foam backing for a total thickness of 3.5 mm. The foam layer cuts footfall noise and adds a little comfort underfoot, so rooms sound quieter without giving up the durability and easy care of linoleum. Decibel is finished with Forbo's double UV-cured Topshield, and the colors listed here are Forbo's stocked Decibel palette.

Best for: Classrooms, libraries, offices, healthcare and senior living, multifamily corridors and upper floors, and any space where reducing impact noise matters.

How Sheet Linoleum Is Sold

Marmoleum Decibel is a 3.5 mm (0.137") sheet in rolls about 79" (2 m) wide and up to 105 ft long. It is cut to the length your project needs and quoted by the square yard. Give us your room dimensions and we will help you plan roll cuts and quantities.

Because sheet is cut to your order, cut sheet goods are not returnable. Please confirm colors with samples and measurements with your installer before ordering.

Installation and Supplies

Marmoleum Decibel is a glue-down sheet floor installed by a flooring professional following Forbo's Marmoleum sheet installation guide. Forbo's guide notes that open time depends on the substrate: a short open time may be needed on porous substrates and a longer one on non-porous substrates, without letting the adhesive dry. Installation supplies are sold only with a Marmoleum flooring order and are included in your quote.

• Adhesive: Forbo Sustain 1195 or Forbo 660, as listed in Forbo's Marmoleum Decibel technical data sheet. Forbo does not recommend Sustain 100 adhesive for Marmoleum Decibel. Your installer selects the adhesive based on the subfloor and job conditions.
• Seams: Marmoweld color-matched welding rod
• Care: Forbo Neutral pH Cleaner for routine maintenance

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Marmoleum and vinyl? Marmoleum is linoleum, made mainly from linseed oil, wood flour, jute and limestone. Vinyl is a PVC plastic. Marmoleum is PVC-free.

How much quieter is Marmoleum Decibel? Forbo's technical data sheet lists 19 dB impact sound reduction (ISO 717-2) and an IIC of 69 (ASTM E492). By comparison, Forbo lists 2.5 mm Marmoleum Walton sheet at 6 dB.

How is Marmoleum sheet priced? Sheet linoleum is cut to length and quoted by the square yard. Call 1-888-976-8166 with your square footage for a project quote. The minimum order is 250 sq ft.

Can I return Marmoleum sheet? No. Sheet is cut to the length you order, so cut sheet goods are not returnable. Order free samples first to confirm your colors.

Which adhesive is used with Marmoleum Decibel? Forbo lists Sustain 1195 or Forbo 660 for Decibel and does not recommend Sustain 100. Adhesive is sold only with a flooring order and is included in your quote.

Specifier Tips

Decibel is 3.5 mm thick, so plan transitions where it meets thinner floors such as 2.5 mm Marmoleum sheet. Because many Decibel colors share their color names with Forbo's standard Marmoleum collections, you can pair Decibel in classrooms or offices with matching standard sheet in corridors. Specify Sustain 1195 or Forbo 660 adhesive, and have your installer review Forbo's open-time guidance for the substrate.
