Philadelphia Commercial Codex 8x48 Industrial Patina Commercial Luxury Vinyl Plank

Codex (style #5609V) is Philadelphia Commercial's 8" x 48" industrial-look commercial luxury vinyl plank, with a patinaed surface visual and a hammered-metal embossing that gives the floor real texture and depth. It is a heavy commercial glue-down product finished with Shaw's ExoGuard. Codex is meant for interiors that want something other than a standard wood plank: the wide 8-inch format and textured, aged-metal character suit modern workplaces, hospitality and retail with a loft or maker-space style. Ten colors include oxidized greens and blues, grays and two bronze-browns.

Best for: Creative and tech offices, boutique hotels, restaurants and bars, fashion and lifestyle retail, and university innovation or maker spaces.

Colors

• Enchant 00363: a gray-green patina, like weathered copper turned verdigris.
• Enigma 00364: a soft putty gray with a faint green cast.
• Elemental 00495: cool steel gray, the most neutral of the cool tones.
• Mystical 00496: a deep blue-gray teal with a moody, oxidized feel.
• Trance 00831: warm bronze-brown with a rusty edge.
• Reverie 01132: a warm, light-to-mid gray with a beige note.
• Vision 01133: the palest Codex color, a light greige.
• Mesmerize 02068: a khaki-bronze that reads like aged brass.
• Magnetic 05177: dark iron gray, the deepest neutral.
• Mirage 05178: a balanced mid gray between Enigma and Magnetic.

The palette has three groups: cool patinas (Enchant, Mystical), neutral grays (Vision, Reverie, Enigma, Mirage, Elemental, Magnetic) and warm metals (Trance, Mesmerize). Order free samples to see the embossing up close.

Why Choose Codex 8x48

• Industrial, patinaed visual instead of a typical wood grain
• Hammered-metal embossing for surface texture and depth
• Wide 8" x 48" plank format
• Heavy commercial luxury vinyl construction with ExoGuard finish
• Direct glue installation for a stable, bonded floor

Installation Methods

Codex is approved for direct glue. A full spread of the recommended adhesive is applied to the prepared subfloor, then each plank is placed and rolled so it is bonded across its entire back. This keeps the wide planks flat and steady under restaurant chairs, bar stools and rolling displays. Agree on the plank layout and end-joint offset with the installer before work starts, since the textured surface makes joints part of the look. Moisture testing and subfloor preparation should follow the Codex spec sheet and Shaw's installation guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Codex vinyl plank look like? Philadelphia Commercial Codex has an industrial, patinaed look with hammered-metal embossing, so the 8x48 plank resembles aged metal more than wood.

Is Codex textured? Yes. Codex has hammered-metal embossing that adds texture and depth to the surface, which sets it apart from smoother wood-look vinyl planks.

Is Codex a good floor for a restaurant or bar? Codex is a heavy commercial glue-down plank with an ExoGuard finish, and its industrial look fits loft-style restaurants and bars where a wood floor would feel too traditional.

Which Codex colors are the most colorful? Enchant and Mystical bring green and blue-teal patina tones, and Trance and Mesmerize add bronze warmth; the other Codex colors are grays.

Specifier Tips

In an open office, use a gray such as Mirage or Elemental for the main field and bring in Enchant or Mystical at a café or collaboration zone for a patina accent. Trance and Mesmerize pair well with exposed brick, walnut and blackened steel in hospitality projects. Codex works next to dark, textured carpet tile in meeting rooms; specify a reducer where the two meet.
