Philadelphia Commercial Harmony 12x48 Tonal Plank Commercial Carpet Tile

Philadelphia Commercial Harmony (style #54874) is a commercial carpet tile cut as a 12" x 48" plank, with a quiet, tonal texture designed as the calm base layer of the Harmony, Medley and Rhythm family. The long, narrow plank reads more like a wood or LVT layout than a square tile, and it can be set in six patterns from monolithic to herringbone. Harmony uses 100% Eco Solution Q nylon tufted over a performance backing, is produced domestically, and shares 15 color names with its two siblings, so a designer can run a restrained field in one room and a busier coordinate next door.

Best for: Open offices, corridors, higher-education classrooms, library stacks, healthcare administration areas and multifamily amenity spaces that need a calm, linear floor.

Colors

• Unity 00100: a medium taupe with a soft rosy-brown cast that works as an all-day neutral.
• Cadence 00200: the lightest shade in the line, a golden camel that brightens interior rooms without windows.
• Emphasis 00300: muted olive-khaki, a gentle green that nods to planted, biophilic interiors.
• Tempo 00305: deep spruce teal, the boldest cool tone in the palette.
• Euphony 00400: a cool slate gray with a hint of blue for technology and studio spaces.
• Chime 00500: mid-depth brown-gray that hides everyday tracking in shared work areas.
• Diapason 00501: warm greige that sits comfortably between the beiges and the browns.
• Aria 00507: dark warm gray, a practical choice for busy aisles and copy rooms.
• Overtone 00510: near-black espresso charcoal that anchors entries and borders.
• Articulation 00600: a burnished copper-orange that brings warmth to cafés and lounges.
• Tonality 00700: bronze-brown with an olive undertone, earthy and understated.
• Accord 00705: cocoa brown that pairs naturally with walnut millwork.
• Lyric 00710: a deep, earthy umber for executive suites and quiet rooms.
• Pulse 00801: muted terracotta red-brown for an accent band or feature zone.
• Intonation 00900: charcoal with a warm, smoky undertone for main circulation.

Most shades fall into warm neutrals and browns, with Emphasis, Tempo and Euphony as cool accents and Articulation and Pulse as the warm statement colors. Request free Harmony samples before finalizing a color plan.

Installation Methods

Philadelphia Commercial lists six methods for Harmony: Ashlar, Brick, Herringbone, Monolithic, Offset and Stagger. Monolithic keeps all planks running one direction for a calm, directional field that suits long corridors; Ashlar, Brick, Offset and Stagger shift each row so the joints read like a plank floor; Herringbone turns the 12x48 format into a chevron-style feature for lobbies or reception. Installation requirements are covered on the Harmony spec sheet.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do Harmony, Medley and Rhythm work together? Harmony is the quiet, tonal base of the three, Medley adds a layered tonal texture, and Rhythm completes the set. All three are 12x48 Philadelphia Commercial planks with the same 15 color names, so Harmony can fill open areas while a sibling marks paths or zones.

Does Harmony 12x48 work in herringbone? It does. Herringbone sits among the six approved methods for Philadelphia Commercial Harmony, along with Ashlar, Brick, Monolithic, Offset and Stagger.

Is a 12x48 plank carpet tile a good choice for corridors? Long planks like Harmony 12x48 emphasize length, so a monolithic or stagger layout running down a corridor guides traffic and makes the hall feel orderly. Darker Harmony colors such as Overtone or Intonation also hide soil on heavy-use paths.

Where is Harmony carpet tile manufactured? Harmony comes from Philadelphia Commercial, the contract flooring brand of Shaw Industries, and is manufactured in the United States.

How is Harmony priced? Harmony pricing depends on quantity and colors, so it is handled by quote, and the smallest order accepted is 250 sq ft. Phone 1-888-976-8166 to start a Harmony quote or ask for free samples.

Specifier Tips

Run Harmony in a monolithic direction down corridors and switch to herringbone at an entry to signal arrival without changing product. Pair a light field in Cadence or Unity with a band of Overtone at elevators, and if collaborative areas need more visual activity, bring in Medley in the same color name so the transition stays seamless.
