Philadelphia Commercial In the Grain II 12 Mil 6x48 Natural Wood-Grain Commercial Luxury Vinyl Plank

Philadelphia Commercial In the Grain II 12 Mil (style #5524V) is an entry-level 6" x 48" commercial luxury vinyl plank showing natural wood grain, made in the USA with a 12 mil wear layer. It carries the family's 23-color wood palette, shared with the 20 Mil, 30 and 5.0 versions, on a lighter-duty build aimed at light to moderate commercial traffic. The plank measures 5.96" x 48", glues directly to the subfloor and carries an ExoGuard+ finish. It is a budget-conscious way to put a realistic wood look into offices and apartments.

Best for: Private offices, multifamily units and common rooms, leasing centers, small professional suites, light retail and hotel guest rooms.

Why Choose In the Grain II 12 Mil 6x48

• 12 mil wear layer for light to moderate commercial traffic
• Same 23 wood colors as the rest of the In the Grain II family
• Made in the USA
• ExoGuard+® finish for simpler cleaning
• Direct glue installation for a stable, quiet floor

Installation Methods

In the Grain II 12 Mil is approved for direct glue. Adhesive covers the entire prepared subfloor and the planks are pressed into it, so the floor will not shift or curl at seams and feels solid underfoot. For a natural wood look, planks are usually laid in a random stagger with end joints well offset between rows. The 12 mil version is meant for lighter traffic, so plan walk-off matting at entries. Subfloor preparation, moisture testing and adhesive selection should follow the manufacturer's instructions linked through the spec sheet.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does 12 Mil mean in In the Grain II 12 Mil? The 12 Mil refers to the plank's 12 mil wear layer, the clear protective layer over the wood print. Philadelphia Commercial positions In the Grain II 12 Mil for light to moderate commercial traffic.

What is the difference between In the Grain II 12 Mil and 20 Mil? Both share the same 23 colors and 6x48 plank. In the Grain II 20 Mil steps up to a 20 mil wear layer suited to busier spaces, while In the Grain II 12 Mil is the lighter-duty, budget-friendly option.

Is In the Grain II 12 Mil suitable for apartments? Yes. In the Grain II 12 Mil suits apartments, multifamily common rooms and private offices where traffic is light to moderate, and the vinyl surface is water-resistant and easy to clean.

Which In the Grain II version should I choose for a busy corridor? For heavy corridor traffic, step up to In the Grain II 30, which has a 30 mil wear layer, or In the Grain II 5.0. In the Grain II 12 Mil is better suited to rooms off the corridor.

Specifier Tips

Because every In the Grain II version uses the same colors, put the 12 Mil in apartments or private offices and a heavier version in the corridors outside them, in the same color, for a seamless look at a lower overall budget. Mid tones such as Hemp, Farro or Flaxseed hide everyday dust better than Drift or Ember. A 6x48 plank also lines up with Color Scope accent planks if you want a colored border.
