Shaw Serene 12x24 Matte Marble-Look Porcelain Tile

Shaw Serene 12x24 (style 359TS) is a nominal 12" x 24" matte glazed porcelain tile (11.7" x 23.5" actual) featuring a white marble look, made in the United States in two colors. Golden Calacata carries gold veining and Bianco Covelano soft gray veining, giving a choice between warm and cool marble. Because the surface is matte and smooth rather than polished, Serene offers the elegance of marble without glare, and high (V3) shade variation means tiles differ the way real marble does. The 12x24 size works on floors and walls alike.

Best for: Bathroom floors and walls, shower surrounds, kitchen floors, powder rooms, laundry rooms and entryways.

Colors

• Golden Calacata 00121: white marble with gold veins for a warm, Calacatta-style look.

Where to Install

Frequently Asked Questions

Is matte marble-look tile slippery? Matte tile like Shaw Serene 12x24 is generally less slick than polished marble-look tile. Shaw's data for Serene does not list a DCOF value, so check the linked spec sheet for slip data before using it on a wet floor.

What grout color goes with Calacatta-look tile? With Serene in Golden Calacata, a warm white or light almond grout blends with the white background; on Bianco Covelano, a bright white or very light gray grout matches the cool veining.

Does Serene look like real marble? Serene 12x24 has high (V3) shade variation, so veining changes from tile to tile like natural marble. Mix tiles from several boxes during installation for the most realistic spread.

Golden Calacata or Bianco Covelano: which should I choose? Choose Serene Golden Calacata if the room uses brass, gold or warm wood, and Bianco Covelano if you prefer chrome, nickel and cool grays. Both are matte 12x24 marble-look porcelain.

Does marble-look porcelain need sealing? No. Shaw Serene is glazed porcelain, so unlike real marble the tile itself does not need sealing; only the grout should be sealed.

Design Pairing Guide

Golden Calacata pairs with brushed brass faucets, white oak or walnut vanities and warm white walls, and a matte black mirror frame adds contrast. Bianco Covelano suits polished chrome, gray or navy cabinetry and pale gray walls. Use white grout with Golden Calacata and white or light gray with Bianco Covelano.
