Shaw Tempest Slip-Resistant 16x24 Terracotta & Concrete-Look Porcelain Tile

Shaw Tempest Slip-Resistant 16x24 (style 680TS) is a 23.94" x 15.75" glazed porcelain tile in clay and concrete tones, produced as the slip-resistant version of the largest Tempest format. Combining the biggest Tempest size with a slip-resistant designation makes it the natural pick for wide outdoor surfaces such as pool decks, patios and outdoor kitchens, where fewer grout joints also mean less grout to maintain. It is frost resistant, impervious to water at 0.50% absorption or less, and shows high (V3) shade variation from piece to piece.

Best for: Pool decks, large patios, outdoor kitchens, lanais, exterior walkways and garage-to-house entries.

Colors

• Taupe 00200: a gray-brown neutral that ties a patio to wood pergolas and natural stone walls.
• Concrete 00500: light gray that keeps a contemporary pool deck looking architectural.
• Clay 00600: a light, peach-leaning terracotta suited to Mediterranean and Spanish-style courtyards.
• Rust 00800: a deep terracotta that brings warmth to outdoor kitchens framed in stucco or brick.
• Charcoal 00900: dark charcoal for modern outdoor rooms where low-maintenance color matters.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Tempest Slip-Resistant 16x24 suitable for an outdoor kitchen? Yes. Tempest Slip-Resistant 16x24 is frost resistant, impervious to water and made as a slip-resistant tile, so it handles spills, rain and freeze-thaw cycles around an outdoor kitchen; clean grease promptly and seal the grout.

How do I prevent lippage with Tempest Slip-Resistant 16x24? Use a tile leveling system, back-butter each piece, and keep offsets to no more than 33% on this 23.94"-long Tempest Slip-Resistant 16x24 tile.

Should I choose the 16x24 or the 16x16 Tempest Slip-Resistant tile? Tempest Slip-Resistant 16x24 covers big patios with fewer joints, while the Tempest Slip-Resistant 16x16 handles sloped areas, small landings and curved edges with less cutting. Both share the same colors and slip-resistant designation.

Can Tempest Slip-Resistant 16x24 be used indoors too? Yes. Tempest Slip-Resistant 16x24 is rated for floors and walls inside and out, so it can continue from a patio into a sunroom, mudroom or garage entry.

How many boxes of Tempest Slip-Resistant 16x24 cover a 400 sq ft patio? At 10.44 sq ft per box, 400 sq ft needs about 39 boxes before waste; adding 10-15% overage brings a Tempest Slip-Resistant 16x24 order to roughly 43-45 boxes.

Design Pairing Guide

Around a pool, Taupe pairs with natural teak loungers, bronze fixtures and limestone-colored coping. Concrete complements white render, black metal pergolas and a mid-gray grout. Clay suits bougainvillea, white stucco and olive-wood serving boards. Rust works with brick grill surrounds, copper lanterns and cream outdoor cushions. Charcoal looks clean with horizontal cedar screens, stainless appliances and a dark grout that hides grease and dirt.
