Tesoro Woods Solid Bamboo – Caramel Wide 5-5/8"

Caramel Wide is the classic medium-brown color in the Tesoro Woods Solid Bamboo line. The bamboo is carbonized, a heat treatment that deepens its color all the way through, and it comes on long 6-foot tongue-and-groove planks with a smooth surface.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does carbonized mean? Carbonizing heats the bamboo fibers under pressure, which caramelizes their natural sugars and turns them brown. The color goes through the fiber rather than sitting on the surface like a stain.

Is solid strand bamboo harder than oak? Yes. Strand-woven bamboo is compressed under high pressure, and Tesoro rates it at over 3,000 on the Janka scale. Red oak is about 1,290.

How is Caramel Wide different from Caramel Antiqued? Same carbonized color. Caramel Wide has a smooth surface; Caramel Antiqued is handscraped for a rustic look.

Can it be refinished? Yes. Because the plank is solid strand bamboo, it can be sanded and refinished.

Solid Strand Bamboo, Built to Last

Strand-woven bamboo is made by shredding bamboo stalks into fibers and pressing them into dense blocks, which makes it far harder than most hardwoods. Tesoro mills the solid strand blocks into long 6-foot planks with tongue-and-groove joints and micro-beveled edges, then protects them with a UV-cured acrylic urethane finish.

Healthy, Rapidly Renewable Flooring

Bamboo is a grass that regrows in a few years, making it one of the most renewable flooring materials available. Tesoro Solid Bamboo is FloorScore certified for indoor air quality, has no added urea formaldehyde and no VOCs, and is Lacey Act compliant.

Design Pairing Guide — Caramel Wide

Caramel's warm medium brown works in transitional, craftsman, and modern farmhouse rooms. Pair it with cream or greige walls, leather, dark bronze hardware, and natural textiles.

Ideal Applications

Living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, hallways, home offices, and kitchens. Wipe up spills promptly. Not recommended for full bathrooms, laundry rooms with standing water, or other wet areas.
