Shaw Coastal Prospect 3x6 Matte Subway Ceramic Wall Tile

Shaw Coastal Prospect Matte 3x6 (style 602TS) is a glazed ceramic subway tile in the nominal 3" x 6" size with a matte, low-sheen surface, sold in Ice, Ivory and Breeze. It keeps the familiar subway proportion but trades shine for a soft, flat finish that looks more relaxed and contemporary than gloss. That makes it a good fit for modern farmhouse, Japandi and coastal interiors where a reflective wall would feel too busy. Shade variation is Low (V1), and the slim 0.276" body is easy to cut for borders, niches and window returns.

Best for: Modern farmhouse backsplashes, low-glare bathroom walls, shower walls, mudroom wainscoting and wall niches.

Colors

• Ice 00100: a bright white with a soft, chalky look in matte, modern without being stark.
• Ivory 00120: warm off-white that gives the matte finish a cozy, lived-in tone.
• Breeze 00510: a light gray that looks subdued and calm with this low-sheen surface.

Why Choose Coastal Prospect Matte 3x6

• Standard 2.91" x 5.82" subway size in a matte glaze
• Low-glare surface for bright rooms and strong task lighting
• Uniform color with Low (V1) shade variation
• 250 lbf minimum break strength
• 10.66 sq ft per carton
• Coordinates with the matte 3x12 for mixed-size layouts

Where to Install

Coastal Prospect Matte 3x6 is listed by Shaw as accent tile, so it is for walls such as kitchen backsplashes, bath walls, shower surrounds, wainscoting and laundry rooms. Do not use it on floors. It has no frost rating from Shaw, so restrict it to indoor walls. Matte tile with a contrasting grout looks especially graphic in herringbone, which suits feature walls behind a range or vanity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does matte 3x6 subway tile look good in herringbone? Yes. Coastal Prospect Matte 3x6 has a 2:1 proportion that forms a neat herringbone, and the matte glaze keeps the zigzag pattern soft; plan about 15% overage because herringbone produces more cuts.

Gloss or matte: which Coastal Prospect 3x6 should I pick? Coastal Prospect Matte 3x6 gives a calmer, low-glare wall, while the Coastal Prospect Gloss 3x6 reflects light for a classic shine. Both share the same size, colors and box coverage.

Can I combine Coastal Prospect Matte 3x6 and 3x12? Yes. Coastal Prospect Matte 3x6 and the Matte 3x12 share the same 2.91" height and colors, so they can be mixed in a random-length pattern or used as a border and field on one wall.

Is Coastal Prospect Matte 3x6 waterproof enough for a shower? Coastal Prospect Matte 3x6 is a semi-vitreous glazed ceramic with water absorption above 0.50%, so install it on shower walls over a waterproofing membrane or backer; the glaze protects the face, and the membrane protects the wall.

What grout goes with Ivory matte subway tile? For Coastal Prospect Matte 3x6 in Ivory, a warm white or almond grout keeps the wall soft and blended, while a light gray grout adds gentle definition without harsh contrast.
