Shaw Method 7x22 Oak Wood-Look Ceramic Tile

Shaw Method (style 425TS) is a nominal 7" x 22" glazed ceramic tile that mimics oak flooring, available in five colors from pale blush-beige to dark chocolate brown. The 7x22 is the shorter of the two Method sizes, so it handles small rooms, tight hallways and bathroom floors without awkward slivers at the walls, and it is more forgiving on floors that are not perfectly flat. A smooth surface and moderate (V2) shade variation give the grain a clean, steady rhythm.

Best for: Bathroom floors, kitchens, laundry rooms, hallways, kids' rooms and shower or tub-surround walls.

Colors

  • Daybreak 00150: pale oak with a faint blush-beige undertone that softens white rooms.
  • Paramount 00200: warm natural oak with golden tones, close to a traditional site-finished floor.
  • Aerial 00250: honey-amber oak, a little richer and more orange than Paramount.
  • Sterling 00500: taupe-gray oak that bridges warm and cool palettes.
  • Eternity 00750: dark chocolate brown with the most contrast of the five.

Why Choose Method 7x22

  • Five oak colors in one style, from pale to deep
  • Compact plank that suits small spaces and is easy to cut
  • Wet DCOF of 0.42 or higher for wet-prone interior floors
  • Moderate (V2) shade variation for natural oak movement
  • Glaze hardness of 6 and break strength of at least 250 lbf
  • 18.19 sq ft per box

Where to Install

Method is classified as a Floor tile, which means it can be used on both interior floors and walls. It is a sensible pick for bathrooms, kitchens, mudrooms and basements where real oak would be at risk from moisture. Shaw does not list a frost rating, so plan on interior installations only. On the wall, the shorter plank stacks neatly in a vertical or herringbone shower accent.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Method 7x22 and Method 8x36? Both share the same five oak colors, but Shaw Method 7x22 is a shorter plank that fits small rooms and less-flat floors more easily, while Method 8x36 is longer and wider for fewer joints in open spaces.

Which Method color looks most like natural oak? In Shaw Method, Paramount 00200 is the closest to a classic natural or golden oak, with Aerial 00250 slightly warmer and more amber.

Can Shaw Method 7x22 be used on a bathroom floor? Yes. Shaw rates Method 7x22 as a floor tile, and its wet slip rating of at least 0.42 makes this oak-look plank suitable for interior bathroom floors.

Does wood-look ceramic tile need to be sealed? The glazed face of Shaw Method does not need sealing; only cement-based grout joints benefit from a sealer to resist stains.

Can I do herringbone with 7x22 tile? Yes. The Shaw Method 7x22 plank works in herringbone, which needs extra cuts at the edges, so plan on the higher end of a 10 to 15 percent overage.

Design Pairing Guide

Daybreak pairs with white shaker cabinets, blush or warm white walls and brushed gold pulls. Paramount and Aerial suit navy, deep green or cream cabinetry with aged brass, plus a beige or tan grout. Sterling works with gray and white kitchens, matte black fixtures and a warm gray grout. Eternity looks sharp against white walls, light quartz and chrome, with a dark brown grout keeping the planks continuous.
