Coral Grip HD Commercial Entrance Flooring Sheet by Forbo

Coral Grip HD is a heavy-duty scraper for the very first step of an entrance. Instead of a pile, it is a non-woven, embossed web of tough, flexible vinyl filaments with granulated PVC chips added for slip resistance. The open structure grabs sand, grit and mud off shoe soles and lets it fall below the surface, keeping it away from the next zone of matting and the main floors. Coral Grip is the only Coral product Forbo allows for exterior installation.

Best for: Exterior entrances, covered porches, vestibules and recessed mat wells at schools, offices, retail stores and other high-traffic commercial buildings.

How Coral Entrance Flooring Is Sold

Coral Grip HD comes in two constructions:

• Backed: Everfort vinyl backing with edging, 17 mm (0.67") thick and about 50" wide overall (48" plus edging).
• Unbacked: open and pervious, 16.75 mm (0.66") thick and 48" wide with no edging. This is the usual choice for recessed mat wells.

Both are made in rolls about 32.81 ft (10 m) long (14.58 sq yd per roll) and cut to the length your entrance needs. Forbo's US site lists two item numbers for Ink but does not say which one is backed and which is unbacked, so we confirm the backing with you at quote. Need a finished mat instead of a full sheet install? Custom-size Coral entrance mats are available by quote.

Because sheet is cut to your order, cut sheet goods are not returnable. Please confirm measurements and backing type with your installer before ordering.

Installation and Supplies

Coral Grip HD is installed by a flooring professional. Installation supplies are sold only with a Coral flooring order and are included in your quote.

• Adhesive: Forbo 660 adhesive for backed Coral Grip HD, as listed on the Coral Grip HD technical data sheet and in Forbo's Coral sheet installation guide.
• Trowel: 1/16" x 1/16" x 1/16" square notch, per the Coral sheet installation guide.
• Care: Forbo's Coral floor care guidelines note that the standard Coral cleaning procedures do not apply to Coral Grip. Remove debris with a wet/dry vacuum, and periodically hose or power-wash Grip installed outdoors or in a recessed well.

What is Coral Grip HD used for? Coral Grip HD is a scraper mat material for the first zone of an entrance, outside the door or just inside it. Its open structure knocks loose sand, grit and mud before people reach the textile entrance floor and the main floors.

What is the difference between Coral Grip MD and Coral Grip HD? Coral Grip MD is about 12 mm thick (backed) and comes in 49.21 ft rolls. Coral Grip HD, the heavy-duty version, is about 17 mm thick (backed) and comes in 32.81 ft rolls. Both are rated for Zone 1, outside and inside building entrances.

Is Coral Grip HD backed or unbacked? It comes both ways. The standard version is open and unbacked, so water and debris drop through, which suits recessed mat wells and outdoor areas. It can also be made with an Everfort vinyl backing, with edging, which makes it impervious. Tell us which you need and we will confirm the backing at quote.

What adhesive is used with Coral Grip HD? Forbo's Coral Grip HD technical data sheet calls for Forbo 660 adhesive when installing the backed version, and the Coral sheet installation guide also calls for Forbo 660. Adhesive is sold only with a flooring order and is included in your quote.

Use Coral Grip HD as the first zone of a complete entrance system: Grip at or outside the door to scrape, then Coral Brush or Coral Duo inside to absorb moisture and catch fine soil. For a recessed well, measure the well depth against the unbacked thickness and ask us about Coral Grip MD if you need a lighter grade.
