Shaw St. Pete 6x6 Stone-Look Glazed Ceramic Tile

Shaw St. Pete 6x6 (style CS87L) is a nominal 6" x 6" glazed ceramic floor and wall tile with a stone-look surface, made in one warm gray-beige color called Gulf 00100. It is the field tile of the St. Pete family in Shaw's Ceramic Solutions collection. Next to the St. Pete mosaic, the 6x6 square gives a cleaner, more traditional grid with bigger faces that let the soft mottling show, and unlike the mosaic it is rated by Shaw as a Floor product. A matching surface bullnose finishes any exposed wall edges.

Best for: Bathroom and powder room floors, laundry rooms, small entries, kitchen backsplashes, tub surrounds and shower walls.

Colors

  • Gulf 00100: a light, warm gray-beige with gentle stone-like mottling that reads as a calm, sandy neutral from across the room.

Why Choose St. Pete 6x6

  • Classic 6" x 6" square that fits small rooms and tight layouts where large tiles would need many cuts
  • Wet CoF of 0.42 or higher, and listed by Shaw as a floor tile
  • Break strength of 304 lbf or more at 0.29" thick
  • Moderate (V2) shade variation for gentle tone shifts square to square
  • Coordinates with the St. Pete mosaic and surface bullnose in the same Gulf color
  • Glazed ceramic body that scores and snaps cleanly with a standard tile cutter

Where to Install

Because Shaw lists St. Pete 6x6 as a floor tile, it can cover interior floors as well as walls: bathrooms, powder rooms, laundry rooms, mudrooms and kitchens, along with backsplashes, tub surrounds and shower walls. Without a frost rating, and with semi-vitreous absorption over 0.50%, it belongs inside the heated envelope of the house rather than on porches or exterior steps. Small squares put more grout joints underfoot, which adds traction; pick a grout that resists stains, or put sealer on cementitious grout once it has cured.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Shaw St. Pete 6x6 ceramic or porcelain? St. Pete 6x6 is glazed ceramic, not porcelain. Shaw rates its water absorption above 0.50% (semi-vitreous), which is why Shaw St. Pete is meant for interior floors and walls rather than outdoor spaces.

How many boxes of St. Pete 6x6 make the 250 sq. ft. minimum? Each box of Shaw St. Pete 6x6 holds 12 sq ft, so reaching the 250 sq. ft. minimum takes 21 boxes. Add 10–15% extra for cuts and breakage on a larger room.

Can you put St. Pete 6x6 on a bathroom floor? Yes. St. Pete 6x6 is listed for floors and its wet CoF is rated at 0.42 or above; the many grout joints of a 6" square give extra grip in a bath. Keep it to interior rooms, since it has no frost rating.

What is the difference between St. Pete 6x6 and the St. Pete mosaic? The St. Pete 6x6 is a floor-rated field tile, while the St. Pete Mosaic is small squares on a sheet of about 13" x 13" sold as a wall accent. Both come in Gulf 00100, so the mosaic can frame a niche or backsplash band above a St. Pete 6x6 floor.

Does St. Pete 6x6 have matching trim? Yes. The St. Pete Surface Bullnose (CS89L) is made in the same Gulf 00100 color and closes off the exposed edges of St. Pete 6x6 on wainscoting, tub decks and window returns.

Design Pairing Guide

Gulf 00100 is a warm gray-beige, so it sits comfortably beside white or cream cabinetry, oil-rubbed bronze or brushed brass fixtures, and walls in greige, soft sage or sandy taupe. For a fresh bath, combine it with crisp white walls and a warm gray grout one shade darker than the tile. For a vintage feel, try an almond grout, a pedestal sink and chrome taps. In a laundry room, cool blue-gray paint makes a pleasant counterpoint to the tile's warmth.
