Shaw St. Pete Stone-Look Ceramic Mosaic Tile, 13x13 Sheet

The Shaw St. Pete Mosaic (style CS91L) is a glazed ceramic stone-look mosaic made of small squares mounted on a 13.07" x 13.07" sheet, offered in the warm gray-beige Gulf 00100. Shaw classifies it as an Accent tile, so its place is on vertical surfaces rather than floors. Where the St. Pete 6x6 lays down a calm grid, this mosaic breaks the same color into a fine pattern of chips and joints, adding texture to a backsplash, shower niche or border band. Sheets go up faster than setting single pieces and trim easily into narrow strips.

Best for: Kitchen and bar backsplashes, shower walls and niches, bathroom accent bands, fireplace surrounds.

Colors

  • Gulf 00100: soft beige-gray chips with mild mottling that, repeated across dozens of squares, give a wall a gently textured, sandy tone.

Why Choose St. Pete Mosaic

  • Small-square mosaic on a 13.07" x 13.07" sheet for quicker installation than loose pieces
  • Glaze hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale
  • Moderate (V2) shade variation from chip to chip
  • Same Gulf 00100 color as the St. Pete 6x6 field tile and surface bullnose
  • 0.303" thick, close to the 0.29" St. Pete 6x6, so the two sit nearly flush on one wall
  • 1.19 sq ft per box, which makes it easy to buy only what an accent area needs

Where to Install

Use St. Pete Mosaic on interior walls: kitchen and bar backsplashes, shower walls, recessed niches, a border band around a tub, and fireplace surrounds. Floors, shower floors among them, are outside its intended use under Shaw's Accent classification, even though it shares a color with the floor-rated St. Pete 6x6. Because it absorbs more than 0.50% water (semi-vitreous) and has no frost rating, keep it inside.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is St. Pete Mosaic OK for a shower pan? It is not. St. Pete Mosaic carries Shaw's Accent classification, meaning it is made for walls; put it on shower walls and niches instead of the pan. For a floor in the same Gulf color, use the floor-rated St. Pete 6x6.

How many boxes of St. Pete Mosaic do I need for a backsplash? Each box of Shaw St. Pete Mosaic covers 1.19 sq ft, so divide the backsplash area by 1.19 and then add 10–15% for cuts. A 30 sq ft backsplash, for example, needs 26 boxes before overage.

How does the St. Pete Mosaic compare to St. Pete 6x6? The St. Pete Mosaic splits the Gulf 00100 color into small squares on a 13" sheet for walls, while the St. Pete 6x6 is a larger, floor-rated square. A popular plan runs the 6x6 on the floor and wainscot and uses the mosaic as a band or niche back.

What grout color works with St. Pete Gulf mosaic? A warm gray or light taupe grout keeps St. Pete Mosaic looking like one soft field of stone, while white grout outlines every square and makes the grid stand out. With so many joints in a mosaic, grout color shapes the finished look more than it does on a larger tile.

Is St. Pete Mosaic easy to cut? Yes. St. Pete Mosaic is glazed ceramic, which cuts more easily than porcelain, and sheets can usually be separated along a grout line so only the edge squares need a wet saw or tile nipper.

Design Pairing Guide

For a coastal kitchen, set the Gulf mosaic behind a white quartz counter with sea-glass blue cabinets and polished nickel faucets. In a bath, it looks at home with walnut or white oak vanities, champagne bronze or matte black fixtures, and walls in a warm white. Taupe grout keeps the mosaic quiet; bright white grout turns it into a graphic grid that suits a retro bath with a black-and-white palette.

Browse more ceramic tile, and finish the mosaic's edges with the matching St. Pete Surface Bullnose.
