Shaw Tetra 5x6 Matte Hexagon Colored Porcelain Tile

Shaw Tetra Hex 5x6 (style 700TS) is a flat, matte-glazed porcelain hexagon accent tile measuring 5.45" x 6.28", nominal 5" x 6", offered in eight colors. Its smooth face makes it the most versatile shape in the Tetra family: it can lay out as a single-color honeycomb, a two-tone pattern or a scattered color blend. The hexagon outline brings more grout geometry than a square, which gives a backsplash pattern without any printed design. It is frost resistant, and each box covers 5.49 sq ft.

Best for: honeycomb backsplashes, bathroom accent walls, shower niches, laundry rooms, coffee bars and exterior accent walls.

Colors

• Pearl 00100: a clean, near-white hex that suits a classic honeycomb with contrasting grout.
• Linen 00101: a creamy beige-white that softens a hex layout in traditional kitchens.
• Sage 00300: a muted, pale green that reads calm and natural across a full wall.
• Mint 00301: a clearer green with a cheerful, vintage-bath feel.
• Ice 00400: a whisper of pale blue that keeps small bathrooms feeling airy.
• Navy 00401: a saturated dark blue that makes a confident two-tone pattern with Pearl.
• Carbon 00500: a deep charcoal gray for graphic, modern honeycomb walls.
• Terracotta 00600: a warm, earthy red-orange that recalls fired clay without the upkeep.

Why Choose Tetra Hex 5x6

• Flat 5.45" x 6.28" hexagon that is easy to mix in multi-color patterns
• Matte glaze for a soft, low-glare finish on walls
• Impervious glazed porcelain (water absorption ≤ 0.50%)
• Frost resistant, so exterior accent walls are an option
• Eight colors in one size for custom blends
• Wet DCOF listed at ≥ 0.42

Where to Install

Shaw classifies Tetra Hex 5x6 as an accent tile, so it is best used on walls and decorative areas: a kitchen backsplash, the wall above a laundry sink, a powder room accent wall, a shower niche or a coffee-bar surround. Its frost resistance means it can also dress up exterior accent areas, such as a covered porch wall or an outdoor bar front.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I mix colors of Tetra Hex 5x6? Yes. All eight Tetra Hex 5x6 colors share the same 5.45" x 6.28" size and matte finish, so they can be blended into a random scatter, an ombre fade or a two-color honeycomb. Lay the pattern out dry before setting to check the balance.

What grout color goes with colored hexagon tile? For Tetra Hex 5x6, a grout close to the tile color lets the color read as one field, while white or charcoal grout outlines each hexagon for a graphic honeycomb. Light grout with Navy or Carbon gives the strongest contrast.

How much area does a box of Tetra Hex 5x6 cover? A box of Shaw Tetra Hex 5x6 covers 5.49 sq ft. For a backsplash, measure the wall area, then add 10–15% for hexagon edge cuts.

Is Tetra Hex 5x6 flat or 3D? Shaw Tetra Hex 5x6 has a flat, matte face. If you want the same hexagon shape with raised relief, see the Tetra 3D Hex, which has the same dimensions and colors.

Is Tetra Hex 5x6 suitable for exterior walls? Yes. Shaw rates Tetra Hex 5x6 as frost resistant, so it can be installed on exterior accent walls as long as the substrate and setting materials are rated for outdoor use.

Design Pairing Guide

Pearl hexes with charcoal grout go with black faucets and white quartz for a classic graphic look. Linen suits cream cabinets and aged brass. Sage feels right beside light oak shelving and potted herbs, while Mint pairs with white walls and chrome for a retro bath. Ice suits gray-blue vanities and polished nickel. Navy contrasts well with white shaker cabinets and gold pulls, Carbon with concrete counters and walnut, and Terracotta with olive green cabinets and cream walls.
