Shaw Universe Calacatta Marble-Look Ceramic Mosaic Tile

Shaw Universe Mosaic (style 265TS) is a glazed ceramic mosaic in a Calacatta marble look, supplied on a 12.99" x 12.99" sheet with a smooth finish. It breaks the white-and-gray veining of the Universe line into small mounted pieces, giving backsplashes and shower niches a finer, more detailed texture than the 12x24 and 22x22 field tiles. Shaw rates it as an accent product, so it is designed for walls and decorative details rather than floors. Use it to frame a vanity, line a niche or run a band through a Universe shower.

Best for: Kitchen backsplashes, vanity backsplashes, shower niches, shower-wall accent bands and fireplace surrounds.

Colors

• Calacatta 00120: white mosaic pieces carrying fragments of bold gray Calacatta veining.

Why Choose Universe Mosaic

• Coordinates with Universe 12x24 and 22x22 Calacatta field tile
• Sheet-mounted for faster, more even setting on walls
• Smooth glazed ceramic that wipes clean behind sinks and cooktops
• High (V3) variation so each sheet shows a different mix of veining
• 0.287" thick, thinner than the Universe field tiles, so adjust mortar depth where they meet
• 1.17 sq ft per box for precise ordering on small accent areas

Where to Install

Universe Mosaic is an accent tile, so keep it on interior walls: kitchen and bar backsplashes, vanity walls, shower niches, decorative stripes in a tub surround and fireplace faces. Do not install it on floors, including shower floors; for the floor, use the floor-rated Universe 12x24 or 22x22. It has no frost rating and is for indoor use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Universe Mosaic go on a shower floor? No. Shaw Universe Mosaic is classified as an accent tile for walls, so it should not be used on shower floors. It is well suited to shower niches and accent bands on the shower walls.

How much does one box of Universe Mosaic cover? One box of Shaw Universe Mosaic covers 1.17 sq ft, and each sheet measures 12.99" x 12.99". Because accent areas are small, measure the niche or backsplash carefully and add extra for trimming.

Does Universe Mosaic match Universe 12x24? Yes. Shaw Universe Mosaic shares the Calacatta 00120 color with Universe 12x24, so a shower can use the 12x24 on the walls and the mosaic inside the niche for a coordinated look.

Is a marble-look ceramic mosaic easier to care for than real marble? Yes. Shaw Universe Mosaic has a glazed ceramic surface, so it will not etch from lemon juice, vinegar or harsh cleaners the way polished marble can; only cement-based grout needs sealing.

What grout works with Universe Mosaic? With Shaw Universe Mosaic, white grout gives a seamless marble effect, while a light gray grout picks up the veining and outlines the pieces more clearly. Mosaics show a lot of grout, so choose the color deliberately.

Design Pairing Guide

Set the Calacatta mosaic behind white quartz counters with polished chrome faucets and pale gray cabinetry, grouted in white for a seamless effect. In a bath, frame it with a charcoal or black vanity and matte black fixtures for contrast, using a light gray grout. Brushed gold hardware and blush or sage walls also suit its white and gray palette.
